Barely a week has passed since the start of the new (working) year. The Christmas and New Year holidays\u2014which our SOS team rightfully took from Christmas until the first Monday of January\u2014already feel far away. Honestly? It feels as if they never happened. Huh. Is that good or bad? Both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good, because the year started with plenty of inquiries. Bad, because I\u2019m already back at full speed and have completely forgotten what \u201coff\u201d even looks like. It\u2019s interesting how you look forward to a break\u2014any break\u2014only for it to pass in the blink of an eye, and suddenly you\u2019re back in motion. And every year, it feels like that motion is faster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, I also ask myself whether this is just my perception. Maybe I simply have less energy each year. We\u2019re not getting any younger. Aging is real. That, too, may be part of the story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still, I can\u2019t shake the feeling that the rushing is intensifying. The world feels increasingly uncertain. At least in Europe, there\u2019s a strange mix of fear and courage, combined with a collective observation of what politicians, driven by their egos, will cook up for us this year. How do I notice this? Simply put\u2014there\u2019s a lack of decisiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Decision-makers are taking more and more time to decide. They wait for guarantees. For proof that something will definitely work. That it will deliver results. But 100% guarantees don\u2019t exist. They never have. And they never will. At least not in the real world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So why do individuals\u2014acting on behalf of companies\u2014take so long to make decisions?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Because the pain isn\u2019t yet strong enough to trigger change? Very likely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Because they\u2019re afraid of failure? Also true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Because they lack a clear strategy for what comes next? Often.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Because they don\u2019t truly understand their goals? Well, in the first week of January, at least three-quarters of people have goals. By the third week, most can no longer name them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The truth is probably a combination of all of the above. And something more: a lack of courage, desire, and vision.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uncertainty itself is not a threat. It\u2019s an opportunity\u2014for those who can recognize it in time and transform it, through strategic thinking, into a competitive advantage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back to the core. Desire. Courage. Vision.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s the key difference between those who move forward and those who prefer to complain and look for reasons why something can\u2019t be done. Of course, we all complain sometimes. I do too. Sometimes simply because we objectively don\u2019t feel like it. Simple as that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, you get burned. I have\u2014more than once. But that\u2019s not the point. The point is what you learn from it and whether you keep going. Whether you get back up. Continue. Everything depends on how strongly you believe in your goal and how much you\u2019re willing to invest to make it happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And here we are again with the same question: why does decision-making take so long?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If I take a quick snapshot of the first week of January, there\u2019s a clear desire for change. For progress. For action. And that\u2019s great.<\/p>\n\n\n

I only wish this energy would last longer than two weeks. That it wouldn\u2019t follow the pattern of most New Year\u2019s resolutions: gym, enthusiasm, 14 days. Third week\u2014problem. And then we forget we ever promised ourselves anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do I wish for 2026?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– More courage<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– More vision<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– More collaboration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– More positive decisions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And personally? Of course, all of the above\u2014and also:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– To be present in (at least) three new markets with our SmartGifty solution, which\u2014without\u2014false modesty\u2014is certainly one of the best gift card solutions in the world<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– To continue working so well with the SOS team and to expand it further<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– To manage to take more time for myself and for rest<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– More days in the mountains with my wife and more moments where there\u2019s no one else around\u2014just the two of us, our picnic, a freshly brewed coffee, and silence broken only by the wind as we look out into the distance<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These are not just wishes; they are my goals for 2026. And courage? For me, courage means returning to one of the Middle Eastern countries where I had already founded a company before Covid\u2014for a concrete business opportunity that once had me sitting at the table with high-level individuals, ministers included. I invested a significant amount of money and lost it\u2014for various reasons\u2014but the time has come to continue the story where I left off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
