Digital Disruptor #41

Digitalization only makes sense if it makes people’s lives easier. In this new edition, we open three seemingly different, but actually deeply connected stories:

  1. Iraq, the fear of digitalization, and summer as a moment for rest and balance. Jurij Triller introduces the topic with a look at Iraq following a business trip to Baghdad. We often view Iraq through the prism of the past: wars, oil, instability, and the images that have shaped the news for decades. But behind that image lies another reality: a country eager to make up for lost time, modernize its public administration, reduce bureaucracy, and create greater transparency. There, digitalization is not just a buzzword, but a potential tool for development. At the same time, Iraq reminds us of something crucial: it’s not the most beautiful presentation that wins, but the solution that works in real-world conditions — despite unstable infrastructure, varying levels of trust, and the need for local understanding.

  1. Boštjan Belčić then raises a question that hits much closer to home: why are we so often afraid of digitalization? Many still perceive it as something cold, impersonal, and threatening to a personal touch. But well-executed digitalization doesn’t strip away humanity. On the contrary — it ensures that the relationship with a guest or customer remains personal, safer, and more sustainable, even as the business grows.

  1. Finally, we bring the topic down to the most personal level: health, rest, and balance. Summer is just around the corner, but the real question isn’t just where we are going, but whether we will truly rest once we get there. Technology can help us plan better, avoid crowds, and make smarter decisions. But it cannot slow down for us. It cannot rest our minds, create space for silence, or decide that a non-urgent message can wait.

Three perspectives, one shared thought: technology is not the goal. The goal is fewer complications, more trust, and a better life.
